【Working Principle】
The switch stores a table called the CAM structure table, which contains MAC addresses, ports, VLAN IDs, and timers. Each MAC address corresponds to one or multiple ports.
When the switch receives a data frame, it checks the table for a matching MAC address and port relationship. If found, it forwards the data to the corresponding port; otherwise, it forwards it to all ports.
Upon forwarding, the CAM adds an entry for the terminal MAC address and port. Over time, the table populates with all ports and their associated terminal MAC addresses.
Subsequent data frames are sent based on these port relationships. Each entry has a timer that resets upon use. If an entry remains unused for an extended period (timeout), the MAC table deletes it.
