Since their inception, electronic belt weighers have evolved from mechanical to electronic, and now to intelligent-controlled types.

Mechanical belt weighers, which relied on lever force transmission and mechanical counters, had numerous shortcomings in terms of performance and accuracy and have largely been phased out. The development of electronic industries, along with the introduction and application of strain gauge load cells and microprocessors, has enhanced the measurement accuracy, performance, and reliability of electronic belt weighers.

Although still classified as electronic belt weighers, they have significantly improved measurement system accuracy, reliability, and performance through technologies such as digitization, networking, and intelligence, as well as by altering design principles and concepts.

Moreover, through the interaction of measurement information, technologies such as real-time online testing, online calibration, and the integration of measurement and calibration have been realized, enhancing the durability of electronic belt weighers.

Trends in Weigh Frame Development

 

The structural evolution of electronic belt weigher frames has progressed from mechanical to lever-type, then to fully suspended, and finally to matrix combination types. This evolution follows trends of simplification, ease of operation, minimal force transmission, reduced friction, fewer mechanical components, and smaller horizontal surfaces.

For instance, the latest matrix combination weigh frame employs a fully suspended direct force transmission structure, where two rollers are equipped with four high-precision load cells as a single weighing unit module.

The entire electronic belt weigher measurement platform consists of multiple such independent weighing units. This structure offers benefits such as improved measurement accuracy and stability, as well as the flexibility to extend the effective weighing area by adding weighing units according to the conveyor's requirements.

The development of sensors for electronic belt weighers is oriented towards higher precision, sensitivity, anti-interference capabilities, durability, wider applicability, and richer compensation functions.
