In short-distance transportation of bulk materials in industry, belt conveyors are commonly used. Rollers are installed beneath the belt to support it and the material on it, reducing the sag of the belt and ensuring smooth operation. Utilizing the supporting feature of the rollers, a belt scale is installed. When material passes through the weighing area of the belt scale, the weighing roller detects the weight of the material on the belt, which is then transmitted to the load cell. The load cell captures the weight signal of the material, while a speed sensor captures the belt speed signal. The instrument receives and processes these two signals to calculate the instantaneous flow rate and cumulative weight of the material passing through the belt. This is the working procedure of a roller-type ICS electronic belt scale.

When choosing a roller-type ICS electronic belt scale, as the user, you must first clarify your needs and parameters, including site environmental conditions (temperature changes, wind and rain, indoor/outdoor, humidity, etc.), conveyor conditions (inclination angle, belt width, conveyor length, conveyor model), production conditions (material type, material characteristics, normal flow rate, maximum flow rate, average flow rate, etc.), and site application conditions (cable laying, ease of installation, availability of a computer, distance between the computer and the installation site of the belt scale, etc.). The user must accurately inform the manufacturer of the actual site conditions so that the manufacturer can provide a precise solution based on the actual application. Otherwise, the belt scale may not be suitable for the site environmental conditions.

 

(2) Correct Installation

 

The installation of a roller-type ICS electronic belt scale is relatively complex. The following basic points should be noted during the actual installation process:

① The belt scale should be installed indoors as much as possible, away from adverse weather conditions such as wind and rain, as well as sources of vibration and electromagnetic interference.

② It should not be installed too close to the material drop point to prevent uneven and unstable material distribution in the weighing area due to material impact.

③ It is recommended to select a relatively flat section of the conveyor, with the inclination angle within the adaptable range of the model, which should be matched during the initial model selection.

④ The rollers in the weighing area should be parallel to each other and on the same horizontal plane to avoid significant fluctuations in the pressure exerted by the belt on the weighing rollers.

⑤The belt conveyor should be equipped with an automatic tensioning device and anti-deviation measures to maintain stable belt tension and avoid the impact of excessive tension changes and belt deviation on the weighing accuracy.

 

(3) Proper Maintenance

 

① Regularly clean the dust and material accumulation on the belt scale instrument and scale frame.

② Avoid placing heavy items on the weighing area to prevent sensor damage due to overload.

③ Check for belt damage or tears to avoid the impact of excessive belt aging on the weighing accuracy.

④ Develop strict maintenance and operation specifications, and provide training for operators before they start work.
